Doors are a job homeowners put off because the old one still technically works. Then the draft gets worse, the threshold rots, the lock sticks, and a sales rep from a big door company quotes a number with a comma in a surprising place. Josh does these as straightforward carpentry: measure the rough opening, order the right unit, and set it plumb, level and square so it closes with one finger for the next twenty years.
The entry door in the first photos is a woodgrain fiberglass unit with decorative glass and two matching sidelights, replacing an original steel door and plain sidelights. The opening was shimmed, foamed and flashed, and the exterior brick mold was wrapped in aluminum so it never needs paint.
The sliding patio door was set into a brick wall, which means careful work at the sill so water runs out, not in. The bulkhead door is a steel unit on a new curb over an existing set of basement stairs, sealed to the foundation and painted to match the trim. Different doors, same standard.
